Painting the Set for Oliver!
The Set for Oliver is going quite an elaborate, spectacular (and costly) expedition.
Professional Set painter - Mr Sutomo has been helping us make it look absolutely amazing!
He knows all the tricks of the trade and everyone who has helped paint is having great fun and learning heaps.
Statistics:
*There is 61.2 Meters Square to canvas to paint
*Invovling 30L of paint!
So far we've had two painting sessions!
There are still 2 more sessions to complete the job. Why not come along?
Contact Winey for details: Winey@student.usyd.edu.au

Creating the world of Oliver!
Hi my name is Winey (pronounce Winnie) and I'm one of many people who make up the "technical team". Behind all the rehearsals and promotions, we are the busy team who get the
lucky job of putting the set together for Oliver the musical!
Putting the set together is no easy task and we have been planning, drawing, googling, excel spreadsheeting, meeting, calling and head-scratching since April to find solutions to get the set ready.

The first and biggest job of the set is to "bridge" the two juliet balconies of the Seymour York Theatre.
The balconies are about 8m apart and we need to create a means for the cast to walk/run/talk/sing/dance/gasp/make silly faces across it. It also can't hide the Musical conductor kung-fu Tim or hinder the wonderful sounds of the orchestra at the back.
It needs to stand up in such a way that the cast and all their props can still get through the doors underneath the juliet balconies.

It needs to be tall enough, strong enough, safe enough, pretty enough, easy to set up enough and cheap enough to be viable for the show. Big job!
After the scaffold structure is put into place, we will be starting plans on dressing it up such that it looks like world for Oliver!
Very exciting! Stay tuned!
